KILGRAVIN LODGE long standing clients Pat & Clyde Buckingham of Emblem Limited tasted Group 1 success again with SANGSTER'S win in Saturdays VRC Derby. In 1997 they experienced, with co-owners with Trevor and Shirley Tobin, the euphoria of owning and racing Australian Derby winner Ebony Grosve. Fourteen years later Emblem Limited can lay claim to another Derby success, this time as breeders of Saturday's Victoria Derby winner Sangster (Savabeel).'s
Pat & Clyde Buckingham's well established Emblem Limited is a small, boutique thoroughbred breeding and racing enterprise located near Karaka.
Sangster was offered as a yearling at Karaka by Windsor Park Stud in their 2010 Select Sale draft on behalf of Emblem Limited.
Unable to attract bidding to his reserve price of $25,000, Sangster returned to Windsor Park before joining Eion Kemp's Kilgravin Lodge to be broken in and prepared for the 2010 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale.
Sangster was subsequently purchased at the Ready To Run sale for $19,000 by young Cambridge trainer Trent Busuttin on behalf of a syndicate of owners for whom he has now won just over A$1 million.
